Pollution

Pollution is the contamination of our environment that results in negative change. Depending on the type of pollution, there can be drastic effects. For example, one of the most common types of pollution is air pollution which is created when elements that are not nitrogen, oxygen, and water vapor are released into the atmosphere.

The possible effects of air pollution include heart problems, asthma, and lung complications. Other kinds of pollution are land, water, and light pollution.

However, one of the most important effects of pollution is that it currently plays a role in the depletion of the ozone layer. The depletion of the ozone layer releases UV (ultraviolet) light waves, which can result in skin cancer, cataracts, and ultimately, make life on Earth unsustainable.

As mentioned earlier, water pollution is another example of a dangerous form of pollution that is already harming millions. According to a recent study by the United Nations, 783 million people don’t have access to clean water and 2.5 billion people don’t have access to adequate sanitation.

According to another study conducted by The Guardian, without making any changes, the Earth is set to run out of natural resources and be uninhabitable due to pollution by the 2050s, which is exactly why we must act now.

Just by doing simple things, such as choosing a cleaner commute (public transportation, walking, carpool, etc.), eliminating wood stoves, and making sure that the engine to your vehicles are off when they’re not in use, are all examples of what we can do to make the world a better place.

This is a crucial time, because we have the potential to control the future of our planet, so we must take advantage of it before it’s too late.
